No, we are just kidding, as are the creators of this now viral website which was simply a prank. The ‘buy a date’ website was created by a group of content creators – Ani Acopian, Suzy Shinn and Morgan Gruer, as a joke and a satire on the plethora of dating popular apps used by people.
The website, which looks eerily similar to Amazon and thus looks legit, has a variety of options through which people can ‘buy’ the person they want to date. In fact, every date featured on the list has a price, a rating, detailed reviews and even a description of their hobbies. It also comes with a drop down to choose how tall you want them to be, with options going till 8 feet. The website also added the feature of Love Language to each person, where one can choose from options like words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time and physical touch.
When you purchase a person on the site a review window opens up and once the order is placed, a fake confirmation message is also generated. If you click on the Legal button, you’re redirected to a downloadable document called a “Non-Ghosting Agreement. However, not everyone is taking kindly to the whole prank. Skip navigation! Story from Tech. Earlier this week, a website called Amazon Dating took over my Twitter feed. It looks and smells like Amazon, only instead of delivering search results for Alexa-enabled microwaves, its homepage is populated with photos of “hot singles near me. And then I was like, wait, why can’t I do that right now? Not actually, but you know — you can do that with everything else.
