UK airline Virgin Atlantic has announced it will waive flight change fees for any bookings made in March in the wake of the uncertainty around the coronavirus. Passengers booking between now and March 31 st will be able to make changes fee-free for travel up until September 30 th. Virgin Atlantic has said today that it will not charge its passengers any fees to make changes to their flights throughout the rest of March. The airline says that any tickets booked between March 4 th and March 31 st are eligible to be altered with no financial penalty. The waiver covers flight scheduled to take place from now until September 30 th. Of course, any fare difference will have to be paid by the passenger, but the usual fees for changes will be removed. Virgin says that it will allow tickets to be altered up until the day before departure, for flights due to take place between now and the end of September. Only flights booked in March are eligible for the flexibility that the waiver offers.

Virgin Atlantic is waiving its change fee amidst coronavirus threats so passengers can change their flights at no extra cost. Coronavirus outbreaks around the world have wreaked havoc on holidaymakers’ travel plans, with airlines forced to cancel flights and plenty of uncertainty as to what it means for future holidays. However, Virgin Atlantic has offered a compromise for passengers who want to book a holiday where the FCO doesn’t advise against travel.
The airline has announced that until the end of March, it will be waiving its ‘change fee’ on flights – meaning that if passengers decide they want to change their flight date, they can do so for free. The offer will be available for tickets booked between the 4thst March , and will include for travel up to and including the 30th September The policy will apply to all routes across Virgin Atlantic’s network – including tickets booked on codeshare flights such as with Delta, Air France and KLM.
However, the policy only applies if you are opting to change the date of travel, not for cancellations. If there’s a coronavirus outbreak at your destination and the FCO doesn’t advise against travel, you may be subject to a fee if you choose to cancel the trip. If the FCO does advise against travel and your flight is cancelled, you won’t be left out of pocket – in this scenario, you are entitled to either a full refund, a free replacement flight to your final destination, or a free replacement flight at a later date, such as when the restrictions are lifted.
